LX Polarized is a smaller brand of sunglasses dedicated to offering high quality polarized sunglasses that are extremely affordable. In the past, LX attempted to be another nationally marketed and distributed sunglass brand, but after nearly ten years, the bulk of the operation was unfortunately shut down. It was just too hard to compete for limited retail space with several established brands and emerging near-monopolies in the marketplace. Many of the most popular surf and sport lifestyle sunglass brands are owned by larger clothing brands, lifestyle conglomerates, or are public companies themselves. Independent brands stand very little chance of competing in the marketplace these days, and the consumer ends up getting less product and more marketing for their dollars spent.

When you spend $300 on a pair of “fashion” sunglasses, you’re getting about $20 worth of product and $280 worth of advertising, royalties, and distribution costs. Similarly, when you purchase one of the popular surf-branded sunglasses in a surf shop, you’re paying for massive amounts of print advertising as well as athlete endorsement contracts. For instance, your hard earned money allows professional surfers to live the dream on your dime. Little of your money goes towards the product. Most goes to marketing and company overhead. So, if you like spending extra money on those things, go for it. But if you don’t need a marketing guru to make you feel like you’re part of the in-crowd, you’re now in the right place!
LX Polarized currently operates with minimal overhead and very little traditional marketing expense. There are no print ads, printed brochures, wasted packaging, or high-paid athlete sponsorships. The only ads you should see will be online, and product endorsements truly exist because the individuals believe in the product. They are not paid endorsements.
